Introducing the IS420UCSBH3A:

The IS420UCSBH3A is a UCSB controller module developed by GE under the Mark VIe series. 

UCSB controllers are standalone computers that run application-specific control system logic. UCSB controllers do not host any application I/O, whereas traditional controllers do on the backplane. Each controller is also connected to all I/O networks, giving them access to all input data. Due to the hardware and software architecture, no single application input point is lost if the controller is powered down for maintenance or repair.

·Functionality
The UCSB controller installed in the panel communicates with the I/O packs through the onboard I/O network (IONet) interface. Mark Control I/O modules and controllers are the only devices supported by IONet, a specialized Ethernet network.
It is a single module that interfaces with external I/O packs through the onboard I/O network connector. The backplane connector on the controller side was used in previous generations of Speedtronic control systems to create these types of interfaces.
The module is powered by a quad-core CPU and comes pre-loaded with application software. The processor runs on the QNX Neutrino operating system and is designed to provide real-time, high-speed, and reliable operation.
This is an Intel EP80579 microprocessor with 256 MB of SDRAM memory and operates at 1200 MHz. Before adding shipping materials.
The front panel of this component has several LEDs for troubleshooting. The port link and activity LEDs indicate if a true Ethernet link has been established and if traffic is low.
There is also a power LED, boot LED, online LED, flash LED, DC LED, and diagnostic LED. There are also on and OT LEDs to consider. The OT LED will illuminate if an overheat condition occurs. Typically, the controller is mounted on a panel metal plate.
The UCSBH3 Quad-Core Mark VIe controller was developed for industrial applications that require high speed and high reliability. It contains a large amount of software tailored to its purpose. The real-time multi-tasking controller operating system (OS) is QNX Neutrino.
·Installation
IS420UCSBH3A A single module mounted directly on the panel sheet metal houses the UCSB controller. The UCSB controller must be mounted to the panel as shown and with the vertical airflow of the fins unobstructed.
·Operation
The controller is pre-installed with software suitable for its purpose. It can move blocks or crosspieces. The control software can be changed online without restarting the system. R, S and T IONet is used to synchronize the clocks of the I/O package and the controller to within 100 microseconds using the IEEE 1588 protocol. Via R, S and T IONet, external data is sent to and received from the control system database of the controller. The process inputs and outputs of the I/O modules are included here.
