  • ABB SPAJ110C is a dedicated secondary protection relay, engineered specifically for application in effectively grounded or low-resistance grounded power systems. Its versatile design makes it a go-to solution for fault protection across a wide range of power equipment, covering lines, transformers, generators, and motors alike. What’s more, it offers flexible deployment options—this relay can be configured as either primary protection to take the first line of defense against faults, or as backup protection to kick in seamlessly when primary protection fails, ensuring full coverage for power system safety.
  • At the core of the SPAJ110C’s functionality is its precise ground fault detection capability. It continuously monitors the zero-sequence current (I₀) in the connected power system, a key indicator of ground faults. Once the detected zero-sequence current exceeds the preset threshold, the relay activates its protection logic in line with the preconfigured time-delay characteristics. This time-delay setting is critical for coordinating with other protection devices in the system, preventing unnecessary tripping and ensuring selective fault isolation—that is, only the faulty section is cut off, while the rest of the system remains in normal operation. When a fault is confirmed, the relay will either trigger an alarm signal to notify operators, or issue a trip command to circuit breakers, depending on the on-site configuration.
