The MarkVIeS safety management system is developed based on GE's more than 30 years of control experience, four generations of continuous control systems, and more than 10,000 triple redundant systems (TMR) installed in the world. These proven and reliable systems complete critical application control worldwide, using flexible safety integration level (SIL) configuration and compliant manufacturing solutions to meet process needs.

MarkVIeS Controller
The heart of the MarkVIeS system is the controller, each consisting of a main processor and redundant Ethernet cards for communication with the I/O network and the control network. A group of two or three controllers can be used to form a dual control system or a triple control system. The control logic can be programmed using function block (FBD) and ladder diagram (RLD). A real-time operating system is used to execute the control logic and communicate with the I/O subsystem.


MarkVIeS I/O Modules (I/O Cards and Terminal Boards)
MarkVIeS I/O modules consist of three parts: a terminal strip for field wiring, a terminal board, and an I/O card. There are two types of terminal strips, grid or box, and the terminal strips are mounted on the terminal board, which has a DIN rail mounting bracket. Each I/O card includes two IONet ports and a local processor for real-time clock synchronization, time stamps for SOE event logging, and all inputs and outputs have SOE functionality. If the user chooses SOE functionality, just click the SOE enable button, without the complicated operation and cost of dedicated SOE hardware. The simplex I/O module includes one I/O card, which is mounted on a simplex terminal board, and the triplex I/O module includes three identical I/O cards, which are mounted on a triplex terminal board. The choice of I/O redundancy is selected separately in the hardware configuration and is transparent to the application.


I/O Network (I/O Net)
I/O Network is a proprietary, full-duplex point-to-point protocol. It supports 100 MB of deterministic network communication and is suitable for local I/O or distributed I/O. In each frame, the online controller reads data from the input module, writes output data to the output module, and synchronizes variables between the dual or triple controllers. IONet switches are designed by GE to meet the requirements of harsh environments and have excellent performance.
